Blender, Unreal Engine, Adobe After Effects
The Endless Engines challenge for CG artists was hosted by pwnisher.
My idea for my short animation was a fantasy city πŸ•Œ and a giant steel dragonfly πŸ› piloted by a fairy πŸ§šβ€β™‚.
The most important thing for me was to reduce render time as much as possible. So, for my workflow, I decided to split the scene into two parts: 1. The dragonfly and the fairy, and 2. The background city.
Each part was rendered separately. And the hardest part… as always, was animation.
The dragonfly was rendered in Blender Cycles, and the background city in Unreal Engine. Then, both were composited together. This way, I minimized trial and error time so that…
I could complete a 40-day challenge in just 7 days. 😌
