The Endless Engines challenge for CG artists was hosted by pwnisher.
My idea for my short animation was a fantasy city π and a giant steel dragonfly π piloted by a fairy π§ββ.
The most important thing for me was to reduce render time as much as possible. So, for my workflow, I decided to split the scene into two parts: 1. The dragonfly and the fairy, and 2. The background city.
Each part was rendered separately. And the hardest part⦠as always, was animation.
The dragonfly was rendered in Blender Cycles, and the background city in Unreal Engine. Then, both were composited together. This way, I minimized trial and error time so thatβ¦
I could complete a 40-day challenge in just 7 days. π
